RPMI 1640

Named after the Institute where it was developed, Roswell Park Memorial Institute, RPMI 1640 medium is suitable for the culture of mammalian myeloma and hybridoma. These include mouse hybridomas, human leukocytes, and B and T lymphocytes. RPMI 1640 is also used for suspension cultures or monolayer human leukemic cells.  We manufacture RPMI 1640 with different formulations.
Application: When supplemented with fetal bovine serum it is suitable for cell culture of most types of suspension cells, including human, mouse, rat, monkey, hamster, chicken and fish cells. Function: The buffer system in RPMI 1640 is sodium bicarbonate and must be supplemented with 5% CO2 to maintain physiological pH.
